The Objective
To install a new sewer and watermain along The Esplanade from Scott Street to Lower Jarvis Street and Queens Quay to George Brown College, as part of the waterfront revalorization program. On this project we acted as the prime contractor in a partnership with Eastern Construction and Waterfront Toronto.
Challenges
This project posed a number of technical issues pertaining mostly to ground conditions and location. A portion of the installation took place directly adjacent to a group of historical buildings, with foundations sitting 1.5m below grade.
The Result
In this case the result of our work was a white paper on shoring. By digging down 6.5m to shore the trench, we managed to complete our work without impacting the historic buildings.
