The Objective

Our work with Bell Canada is a little different in that it’s a 24/7 emergency response contract for a general area, in this case the 416 West portion of Toronto – roughly Yonge Street to the airport and Steeles Avenue to the lake. Our objectives change with each call, everything from buried service wire installations and excavations for technicians to emergency damage and cable fault responses.

Challenges

One of our biggest challenges with this contract has been meeting the emergency-response needs of Bell Canada. As you might imagine, there are thousands of kilometres of cabling and infrastructure supporting Toronto’s downtown core. Third party contractor damages and severe weather can affect the existing infrastructure and Clearway must be able to meet those peak needs of resources at Bell’s request.

The Result

We manage the contract with a dedicated team who utilize a web-based work management system for tracking locates, business to business transactions and restoration requirements. In 2018 we completed 3500 LOIs or Letters of Instruction (work orders) and our success with this contract has led to more work with Bell Canada within and surrounding the GTA.
